Vigo, the strategic communications consultancy, advised CityFibre, a leading designer, builder, owner, and operator of fibre optic infrastructure in UK towns and cities, on its acquisition of national infrastructure assets and a placing to raise £80m.

The national infrastructure assets acquired by CityFibre from KCOM Group plc comprises approximately 1,100 route kms of metro network assets in 24 towns and cities, and a national long distance network totalling approximately 1,100 route kms that connects 22 towns and cities and offers connectivity into key data centres and wholesale internet peering points in London.

CityFibre has a built a significant footprint with its fibre optic networks across the UK, including in York, Peterborough, Coventry, Edinburgh and Glasgow. This acquisition will increase CityFibre’s footprint, with networks in 36 cities and major towns across the UK, including Manchester and Leeds, and will create a credible alternative to BT Openreach.
